Hold It Down.. with Slum Science

Winter is coming, the nights are drawing in and the fat man is packing his sleigh. It’s that time of year where everything gets a shade darker, and the clubs get really good, none more so than the dirty little dens of bassy iniquity like Red Rum.

After Desi Rocca made the walls wobble with his pickle tray funk at our October bash we’re back for our monthly dose of South Manchester Hold It Down shenanigans with another illustrious guest set.

With thirteen releases on some of the most credible labels in house, a successful underground record label of their own in Hudd Trax, gigs in New York, Detroit, Chicago, Las Vegas and LA plus a full length album ready to drop next year Slum Science is the name that has put Huddersfield on the international house map. We first heard these talented DJs at Hoofer Doofer Electronic Music Festival 2011 where over five hours they proceeded to lay down the most groovesome, spellbinding set that we heard all year. Working on four decks and two mixers, Danny White and Rucky are as adept pulling a lost classic out of the bag as they are laying out a blueprint for the house sound of tomorrow so after their equally alluring follow up set at Hoofer this year we had to get them over to Manchester and let them loose for some Hold It Down bassbin bothering.

We’ll also have the usual Hold It Down reprobates throwing down their disco, house and techno styles to warm up and generally making a nuisance of themselves throwing improbable shapes on the dancefloor for the rest of the night. Sometimes that’s worth the entrance fee alone! Hold It Down…
